4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1:45:01.  Loveland Colorado.  Ran with Dean - we found what looked like a nice dirt path around Boyd Lake, that petered out about 2.5 miles into the run.  After running around a while we found a concrete bike path (I really depise concrete for running).  I ran along side the sidewalk for a while, then talked Dean into retracing our steps and running the last 50 mins on the dirt path in the opposite direction.  The only downside to the other direction was the lack of water and no cover at all from the sun.  I am pretty sure the last 4 miles of our run was in the mid 90's (even though it was pretty early in the morning).  Dean was talking about this pain in his hip (yes hip) that he gets when he runs with me on long runs - because the pace is so slow for him I am sure.  Because we were hot and needed to check out of our hotel room the last 2 miles of our run was pretty quick (likely sub 8 pace).  I felt pretty sick when we finished.

We are in Denver now, I have a 3 hour meeting tonight and will miss the opening mixer (7000 statisticians is a site to see, I tell you!).

Bonnie, no fuzzy math for you, hey? Always a challenge to find running routes while on the road. Good job getting your run done.

My God, Bonnie! This must be a huge conference, 7000 people! This reminded me of one conference my cousin told me about (he is a physics prof. at MIT). He was at this big international conference in Israel, and on the way back, at the airport he was interrogated by the IDF intelligence lady. She started asking pretty detailed questions about his speech at the conference, and he said she showed more interest in the subject than he has seen at the conference, where half the people were almost asleep. He came away with respect for Israeli intelligence officers - he said the questions she was asking showed she was grasping the concepts (and mind you, his specialty is condensed matter theory, quantum transport and such!). I hope at your conference everyone stays awake, and you have fun! You probably meet some of your colleagues only there, since it's so large.
