10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

At least the broken record is on a good song.

ha ha ha, nice one Carolyn. Good workout today ... I think you nailed it. 10K-1/2 marathon pace is 8 min pace. When have such a wide pace range (there is a lot of difference between 10k and 1/2 marathon) it is always better to start slow and build up at the end ... you should ALWAYS feel like you could do two more ... not that you should, but you should be able to ... I think you rocked it today!

Thanks, Bonnie. I thought about doing the 7th mile at tempo pace and just doing 1 mile of cooldown today, but I backed off instead. I felt like I could have kept going.

I have run the same trail for 12 years. I never tire of the landscape changed by the seasons. It's so uplfiting to be outside--very often, it's just the best part of the day.

You do sound like a broken record. But a beautiful one! How's your weather? My husband and I have a dream of retiring to Arizona. Sounds like it might be the way to go.

Hi LuzyLew! Happy New Year! It is funny, I actually am quite comforted by repetition in my life, boring to some, comfort to others ;-).

Tracy the weather is heavenly this time of year: mornings 38 or so and 70F in the afternoons. Pretty sunny all the time. But it comes at a cost, 4 months of the year are pretty horrid (check my blogs for last summer) 100+ EVERY DAY the hardest thing about it is the every day, it is horribly hot and not for a few days or a week but for months at a time. Tucson is cooler than Phoenix it is even worse there. At least here we drop to 80F at night.

Dean and I are thinking New Mexico (near Silver City) - high altitude 5000+ft so it is cool in the summer and still not bad winters. Sedona would be nice too, though it can get hot there in the summer it is only about 1 hour from Flagstaff where is is going to be cool in the summer (7000+ ft). Best situation: Tucson in the Winter/Spring Flagstaff in the Summer/Fall.
