5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (12.5, 1:42:53).  ~ 3.5 mile wu/3.5 mile cd. Even Steven Fartlek workout 10`, 8`, 6`, 4`, 2` @ MP, 1/2MP, 10K, 5K, mile w/ 2`,4`,6,`8`  recovery.   Very fun workout - it is harder than it may look, by the time the mile came around my legs were shot!  It was effort based, but at least through the 5K I was pretty sure I was on pace.  I ran to the flattest place I knew of, I ran a 1.3 or so mile loop (it was hilly, just not as steep as most of the places nearer to my house).  Nice morning for a hard workout, the last 3.5 miles were super tough, very steep  hills and very tired legs, good times.  I got passed by the 3rd fastest guy in town (besides Lagat and Abdi) - Craig Curley (he qualified for the trials recently with a 1:03 1/2 marathon).   He is a nice guy, he has run with me a couple times on the track - very hard for him to do since for him it is like walking to run that slow ;-).

PM: 4 miles easy.

I hope you are all having great week!!  And I hope you are warm and dry!

Who is this Fartlek dude? I keep hearing the name. I guess I should give google a try.

Fartlek is a great guy Scott. Not only because he has a name that makes you giggle - but because he allows you to work out and not even feel like you are working out ;-). It is effort based injections of speed into your running. Very cool stuff.

Thanks JD! It is the best time of year right now here ... but may is horribly close (in my opinion too close).
